Transcript of the Journal of Abelard Guthrie (January 1 - October 4, 1859)

This is a transcription of the Diary/Journal of Abelard Guthrie from January 1 - October 4, 1859. Guthrie begins this section of the Journal on a positive note for the new year, and he is hoping that it will be "happy and fortunate as the last was wretched and disastrous." Guthrie discusses financial matters, and also the preparation of a preamble and Legislative Act for the Wyandot Council. In addition, Guthrie attempts to persuade the "most prominent citizens of Quindaro to aid in paying my expense to Washington City to look after the Delaware Treaty about to be made and from which we expect railroad aid." Guthrie notes that the citizens believe it is worthwhile to pursue this course, but they are not willing to pay for it.
